A
few years ago the Heartbreak Hill Striders purchased a new "state of the art"
digital clock for use at all club track workouts. The clock allows
our coaches to focus on what runners are doing rather than on their splits.
We also make the clock available to the Babson cross-country
team (for use at their practices) as well as to selected races.
2012-2013 Winter
Track Workouts
For
the 14th
year in a row, we are indebted to the Babson College Athletic
Department for allowing us to use their facility for our
winter track workouts. These are the details for the 2012-2013 winter season:
Workouts will
typically take place
on Tuesday or
Wednesday evenings
between 6:00 and
8:00 p.m. (Warm-up
at 6:00 p.m.,
workout starts at
6:30 p.m.).
Occasional changes
to the day on which
workouts are held
will be necessary to accommodate
Babson basketball and vacation schedules.
This year workouts
will be held on the
following dates
(Wednesday
workouts are indicated in red).
We may need to make
additional adjustments to our workout schedule to accommodate
Babson athletic events.
For members
who wish to participate in weekly coached HHS workouts, we
have finalized a track rental contractual agreement with
Babson. Under this agreement, we will pay an hourly rate for
each hour of track use.
Based on the
fixed costs involved and expected hours of use, we have set the
2012-2013 Winter Track Workout rate at $140, payable in full at
your first workout. If you paid to run indoors last winter
(2011-2012), your
2012-2013 Winter Track Workout rate will be $100.
Members in good standing
who have not paid the
full winter rate may
participate in an occasional
workout by paying a fee
of $20 at the time of that
workout. There will be no
price breaks for partial year sign-ups. The earlier you sign-up, the
more you can run.
Please make out a check to Heartbreak Hill
Striders in the appropriate amount and bring it with you
to the track.
Colleen Smith will be
collecting checks at each
workout.
HHS members affiliated with Babson (students, alumni, faculty,
employees, etc.) will receive a 50% discount
(i.e., $70) on the 2012-2013
Winter Track Workout
rate.
To obtain a
Babson parking pass, please complete the parking pass
application form available at club workouts and return it to
one of our coaches.
The first indoor workout will be held on
Wednesday, November
7th. The last indoor
workout will be held on
Tuesday, April 2nd (unless
otherwise announced).
Members should
always remember that we are guests of Babson College whenever
we are on campus. All facilities and individuals should
be treated with the utmost respect and all regulations must be
obeyed without exception.
Under
no circumstances should children, pets, or food be brought to indoor
track workouts.
